The Next Movement for Silicon Valley: Lifting People, Purpose, and Community
Angie Ibarra Miller, Founder and Executive Director
For decades, Silicon Valley has been at the forefront of innovation. Yet just minutes from some of the most successful companies on earth, immigrant families continue to face barriers to opportunity, belonging, and economic mobility.
Simultaneously, thousands of talented professionals have lost their jobs, facing uncertainty about the road ahead. These individuals are looking beyond “What’s next?” They are asking, “Does what I do matter? How can I leave a legacy?”
We believe these two realities are not separate—they are an opportunity.
At Levantar, our name means “to lift.” We believe every person has gifts, every family has dignity, and every community has untapped potential. What if Silicon Valley’s greatest resource isn’t technology but people willing to invest their knowledge, experience, and hearts in overlooked communities?
We envision a space and opportunity where software engineers offer mentorship to first-generation students. Where product managers help nonprofits like ours scale their impact. What if designers created bilingual tools for immigrant families or financial planners advised entrepreneurs? Across various industries and fields, our community can come together to share knowledge and create impact for generations to come.
Our vision is to build a bridge between Silicon Valley’s extraordinary talent and communities that have long been rich in resilience but under-resourced in opportunity.
For nearly twenty years, Levantar has walked alongside immigrant families in North Fair Oaks—not as an organization that comes to the community, but as one that belongs to the community. Strangers cannot build trust overnight. You have to earn it through presence, consistency, and relationship. That trust gives us a unique opportunity to invite others into meaningful partnership.
We are excited about exploring ways to bring this to life. One avenue is through a Community Impact Fellowship where professionals invest their skills alongside local leaders and families. A movement like this goes beyond volunteerism and dives deeper into building relationships, bridging cultures and economic divides. Rather than charity or one-time experiences, these experiences provide opportunities for true community and belonging.
- Impact goes beyond a one-time event.
- Families who were once on the “outside” gain access to knowledge and resources.
- Professionals rediscover purpose and connection.
- Organizations strengthen their capacity to serve.
- Together, we create a Silicon Valley where innovation is measured not only by what we build, but by who we uplift.
- Proximity replaces distance
- Talent meets purpose, and leadership is shown through service.
- Communities don’t need to be rescued—they need to be invested in.
At Levantar, we believe transformation happens through relationships. When people from different worlds choose to learn from one another, serve alongside one another, and invest in one another, everyone rises.
Because when we lift one family, one leader, one neighborhood, we strengthen the entire community.
